National Public Lands Day Sep. 29, 2007 (more below)

National Public Lands Day is an event that is held nationwide on the last Saturday of September as declared by Congress to recognize the work of volunteers in keeping trails open and maintained on our public lands. Friends of the Rubicon celebrated NPLD with Hummer/GM helping us out with a wonderul donation ($5000 grant to help our work on the trail) and a BBQ dinner that made us all drool!

Snow did not deter us as we started our day Saturday am with a briefing. The sun quickly came out and cleared up the snow so we could go to work. We moved tons of rocks and filled the rest of the mud hole right below the area known as "the pumpkin patch." This work will help control erosoin and sedimentation, as well as prevent unnecessary bypasses. Thanks to all who could make it and help with this great event. A big THANKS to Hummer/GM for helping the Rubicon Trail for the second year in a row.

Friends of the Rubicon ROCKS!
